Masaryktown sits on the southern edge of Hernando County, with US 41 running through its east side, Spring Hill to the north and west, and Shady Hills in Pasco County to the south. Brooksville is about 9 miles north. The 2020 census counted 1,077 residents.

Slovak settlers, along with one Czech settler, founded the community in 1924 and named it for Tomas Masaryk. Their citrus groves were lost to freezes, and chicken farming took over until about 1965. Streets are still named for Slovak and Czech figures and for U.S. presidents, and a historic plaque stands at US 41 and Wilson Blvd. See our Hernando County page for the wider area.

Roof Repair in Masaryktown, FL

Masaryktown has been settled for a century, so the roofs here range widely in age and the repairs vary with them. Older roofs tend to have worn flashing, cracked pipe boots and decking that has been through a lot of rain, while newer ones are more likely to have isolated wind damage: a few lifted or missing shingles or a loose ridge cap.

We find the source of the leak, photograph it, and fix it properly. For water coming in right now, see emergency roof repairs and call. Everything else we do for homeowners is on our residential roofing page.

County Permits for Masaryktown Roofs

Masaryktown is unincorporated, so roofing permits come from the Hernando County Building Division. The county’s residential roofing permit distinguishes a reroof (full replacement) from a reshingle (recover), and it asks for the manufacturer and Florida product approval number for each material on the roof.

We do full tear-offs and pull the permit ourselves. The county also says shingles can’t go on a slope less than 2:12, which matters for low porch and carport roofs; those sections get a low-slope system instead.

Storm Damage Along the US 41 Corridor

Masaryktown is inland, but it still took the wind from recent storms. The National Weather Service recorded county gusts of 50 to 60 mph during Idalia in 2023 and 60 to 70 mph during Helene and Milton in 2024, with Milton’s top gust, 76 mph, at Brooksville just up US 41. Milton also brought 5 to 10 inches of rain across Hernando County.

Wind damage often hides until the next storm. We check shingles, ridge caps, flashing and vents and show you photos. Read more on our storm and wind damage page.

Repair Versus Replacement for Masaryktown Homes

If your roof has leaks in several places, shingles curling or bare across most slopes, or soft decking, repairs won’t keep up. A full replacement starts from the deck, with new underlayment, flashing and roofing. We’ll tell you plainly which way we’d go and why, and you’ll see the photos that back it up. Roof financing is available to help.

Choosing Shingle, Metal or Tile in Masaryktown

We install and repair architectural shingles from GAF and Owens Corning, metal roofs, and concrete and clay tile. Shingles suit most homes and budgets, metal is a good fit if wind resistance and a long service life are priorities, and tile works on homes built to carry its weight. Compare them on our shingle roofs and metal roofs pages.

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly can you stop a roof leak at my Masaryktown home?

Call (727) 288-4650 as soon as you notice it. For an active leak, calling is the fastest way to get the opening covered and a repair scheduled. Catch the water and move belongings out of the way in the meantime.

Can you repair my Masaryktown roof, or will I need a new one?

If the damage is limited and the rest of the roof is in good condition, a repair is usually the answer. If leaks are widespread, the shingles are worn out, or the decking is soft, replacement is the better investment. We’ll show you photos either way.

Do you work on tile and metal roofs in Masaryktown?

Yes. We repair metal roofs, including fasteners, seams and flashing, and tile roofs, including cracked or slipped tiles and the underlayment beneath. We also repair and replace architectural shingle roofs.

My porch roof is almost flat. Can it get shingles like the rest of the house?

Not if the slope is under 2:12. Hernando County’s roofing permit form says shingles can’t be installed below that slope. We use a low-slope system on those sections and shingles on the main roof, and the permit covers both.

Does a Masaryktown roof replacement need a permit?

Yes. Masaryktown is unincorporated, so the Hernando County Building Division issues it. We pull the permit, list the product approvals the county asks for, and request the final inspection when the work is done.
